Electromagnets for scrap, EMS

A set of lifting electromagnets of EMS type was developed on a custom basis according to the particular specifications desired by one of integrated iron-and-steel works of Russia. These electromagnets are used in foundries for loading scrap.
The special design of these electromagnets allows lifting of scrap directly from waggons arriving from metal recycling enterprises without lifting the waggons themselves. A completely new electromagnetic system was designed for these electromagnets, which made it possible to improve their magnetic characteristics. As a result, their main parameter – the lifting capacity – has increased several times as compared with traditional M-42, M-62 and other electromagnets.
The Table shows the values of the lifting capacity after commissioning tests carried out at an integrated iron-and-steel works. Nowadays these electromagnets are delivered to a large number neighboring and other foreign countries. The design was patented.
